Damsels in Distress Hits the Theaters
April 6th marked the theatrical release of director Whit Stillman's new film "Damsels in Distress". We were privileged to work on music mixes for the film with composer Mark Suozzo. Distribution is by Sony Classic Pictures. The early press has been great. Wishing Whit, Mark, et al, a very successful run!

Long time JGMP stalwart Eytan Mirsky is homing in on a new, as yet untitled album, culled from songs recorded over several years. An eclectic and often wickedly funny songwriter, Eytan's songs have been featured in the Todd Solondz movies "Happiness" and "Palindromes", as well as "American Splendor" and indie film "The Tao of Steve". This will mark our third collaboration with Eytan in a production capacity.
While the project has been largely developed in-house, Eytan recently tapped ace drummer Warren Odze (drum chair for "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" among many credits) to come into neighboring Shelter Island Sound studios and lay down drums with his usual panache.

Singer/songwriter/actress Meg Flather is celebrating the release of her new CD "On The Second Floor" on April 22nd at Don't Tell Mama. We had the pleasure of recording and co-producing Meg and her band; Paul Greenwood, Jamie Rogers and John Mettam. Please visit Meg's site for more details: http://www.megflather.com
Singer/bassist/songwriter Amy Madden is preparing her JGMP recorded album for release by the Swedish label, Belpid Records. In addition to Amy, who covers vocals, guitar and electric and acoustic bass, players on the album include: Steve Holley (Wings) on drums, Jon Paris (Johnny Winter) on harmonica, Ian MacDonald (King Crimson) on alto sax, Bill Christophersen on fiddle and JG on slide guitar and mandolin.
We were pleased to work with singer Marion Loguidice recording and editing lead vocals for "Daybreak", the featured single from her new CD "Tales From The Topside World".
Amy Lennard continues work on her new CD. Most recently, several of our tracks went out to renowned drummer Jerry Marotta who worked on them with engineer Adam Armstrong at Dreamland Recording Studios in Hurley NY.
MISC JGMP NEWS:
Mastered the companion CD for banjoist Tom Hanway's massive book: "Mel Bay's Easy Irish and Celtic Session Tunes for 5-String Banjo: Best-Loved Jigs and Reels" (MB 21597 BCD). Old friends Susan and Sandy Marshall have been in recording new songs. Mixed "Praying for Peace" for fabulous singer Pantera St. Montaigne. Engineer Chico Boyer has brought in a number of projects for mastering featuring traditional (and not so traditional) Haitian music. Several records and mixes for Ronnie Lawson Productions. Brian McNeese continues to work on his second JGMP recorded CD.
And that's a wrap for now. Hope to see you next year!
