Hi All:

As I write this October is nearly over, and Hurricane Sandy is closing in on the NY metro area. Stay safe! Meanwhile, a JGMP Newsletter is way overdue.

Jon Gordon Music Production is a prime provider of audio and music recording and production services. We can tailor our approach to your needs. Studio tours, consultations, budget estimates, etc. are available free, on request. Here is our current news:

Davi Vieira — CD for Killer Latino

We have begun a series of productions for Killer Latino, a library under the Killer Tracks/Universal umbrella. We have completed final mixes for the first of these projects; "Brazilian Styles", a 12 song collaboration with singer/percussionist/composer Davi Vieira. The music runs a gamut of styles including Forrô, Samba, Bachâte, Bossa Nova, and Davi's own trademark style of hip-hop inflected Brazilian pop. It's been a very enjoyable and educational project, as Davi has brought in a seemingly endless parade of exotic percussion instruments and talented musicians, including: Gustavo Dantas (guitar, bass, cavaquinho), Ze Grey (bass, guitar), Jorge Continentino (pifano, bari sax), Nailton "Meia Noite" Santos (surdo, pandero, cuica, whistle, etc.), Rob Curto (accordion), Eliano Braz (violin), Itaiguara Brandao (string bass) and Fabiana Masili (vocals).

Guitarist Gustavo Dantas with Artist Davi Vieira — Session for Killer Latino

We have just completed pre-records and mixes for a major industrial show for Ronnie Lawson Productions, including extensive original video scoring. We were very pleased to see veteran session guitarist Larry Saltzman, who added his inimitable touch to the tracks.

Other recent Ronnie Lawson jobs have featured singers Russell Velazquez and Kevin Osborne, two of New York's finest!

We were pleased to see TV journalist Laurence (Laura) Haim and producer Antoine Manceaux of Fiat-Lux to record voice-overs for "Only In America", a special documentary on the US presidential race, to be broadcast by France's CANAL+ TV on election eve.

One of our pieces, "U Busted" from the Killer Tracks "Nice Pop" collection, found its way into a Crest 3D Whitestrips online commercial, with amusing results.

New to JGMP, although hardly new to the music business, is singer/writer/instrumentalist Alan Merrill. Perhaps best known as the writer of Joan Jett hit "I Love Rock'n'Roll", Alan is a triple threat: a killer singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Since starting in England with his band, The Arrows, produced by the legendary Mickie Most, Alan has appeared worldwide with artists such as Meatloaf, Vodka Collins and Rick Derringer, and fronting various incarnations of his own band. He will be working on a number of ongoing projects.

Singer/bassist/songwriter Amy Madden's new Belpid Records CD "Discarded Angels" is now available in the US on iTunes and CD-Baby. Among many credits, Amy has recently been inducted into the NYC Blues Hall of Fame to honor 3 decades of work as a bassist.

"Discarded Angels" is Amy's first album of original material since the EP length "Minor Disturbances" on One Big Guitar records. I was fortunate enough to be involved in both recordings.

In addition to Amy, who covers vocals, guitar and electric and acoustic bass, players on the album include: Steve Holley(Wings, Joe Cocker, Ian Hunter) on drums, Jon Paris (Johnny Winter, Bo Diddley) on harmonica, Ian MacDonald (King Crimson, T-Rex, Foreigner) on alto sax, Bill Christophersen on fiddle, Rob Thomas (Jazz Passengers, Mahavishnu Orchestra), on cello, Danny Walsh (Lenny White), on alto sax, and JG on electric slide guitar and mandolin.

We are pleased to welcome singer/artist Shanna Jones and percussionist Amanda Wheeler, with whom we are recording several songs. Shanna has an amazing voice and a compelling style. Definitely someone to watch!

Producer Dan Martin and composer Betsy Alexander were in to mix and master their recordings of the score for Alexander's musical play "I Never Saw Another Butterfly".

We've been doing a series of mixes for pop newcomer Jay Gallagher, a.k.a. Jay+Tonic.

Welcome to singer/songwriter Kathy Zimmer, who cut several tracks with our old friend drummer/percussionist Chris Benelli.

We recorded V/Os for online promos for and Underline Communications.

I know I say this every newsletter, but we are doing a few final mix tweaks for Amy Lennard's new CD. The tracks we are working on feature JG on various instruments and Jerry Marotta on drums and percussion. Brian McNeese continues to work on his second JGMP recorded CD. Eytan Mirsky is back in the studio, doing a very special cover tune for an upcoming compilation CD.

And that's a wrap for now. Hope to see you soon!

Best wishes,
